What’s your Fitness Angle??

image This week instead of struggling to make up your mind to get fit, have some fun doing it from a different angle. Setting personal goals can be more motivating as compared to very general ones. Since we are fresh from the Mumbai Marathon why not decide to get fit enough to run a marathon with your friends, maybe.

The secret to successful marathon training lies within staying highly motivated, training smart & safe, and maintaining proper nutrition. We can help you with that. All you need to do is enjoy the process, start small, maintain & eventually increase it. Do you think you could do that?

You are capable of more than u think. Whether you’re already running every morning or if you haven’t even ran in ten years, YOU can successfully train for and finish a marathon or half marathon if you believe in yourself.

So tell us, what’s your Fitness Angle? And give yourself some credit for what you’re doing, you are awesome.

Happy Running!

Our health and fitness is directly related to the quality of our life. Here are a few easy-to-follow tips to increase your well-being. 1. Get a good night's rest every night Going to bed at the same time each evening, and having a quiet room will help. Aim for at least 8 hours for optimum health. 2. Exercise on a regular basis Make an appointment for yourself, with a specific time and place. Treat this appointment as important as a doctor's appointment. Cardiovascular exercise burns fat, while strengthening your heart and lungs. Thirty minutes of aerobic exercise 3 times a week is a great start. Strength training helps to increase your metabolism, while stimulating the release of human growth hormone which slows the aging process. Visiting the weight room 2-4 times a week is excellent. Lastly, don't forget to stretch. It’s best to stretch after a workout, while your muscles are warm. If you find it difficult to make those regular workouts happen, try finding a workout buddy - OR a personal trainer. Either can help to get you started, and KEEP YOU MOTIVATED! 3. Drink plenty of water Our bodies are made up mostly of water. 8 - 8oz glasses each day is ideal. 4. Forget the diets They don't work. Instead, try to change what you eat to something that is sustainable for the rest of your life. Start by getting rid of the junk food -- and no buying more when you are at the grocery store! Try to come up with healthy ( tasty ) snacks instead. Fruits and nuts are a healthy alternative to chips and candy - and the fiber in each of them provide an added bonus. Try to avoid "white" foods - i.e., white bread, white rice, etc. Look for whole-grains whenever possible. If you feel the desire to indulge in something that is not optimally healthy for you - try having a small serving. Half of a slice of pie for instance, or maybe just one cookie ( instead of the three or four that you might ordinarily eat ). Giving yourself permission to eat these things ONCE IN A WHILE will help you to keep your healthy eating on track. 5. Switch from coffee to green tea Green tea has compounds called phenols, which are a type of antioxidant. These polyphenols also have great thermogenic properties - meaning they help to burn fat! 6. Make changes gradually Changing quickly and entirely from an unhealthy lifestyle can appear to be a daunting task. Pick one small change each week and incorporate it into your life. Don't overwhelm yourself with expectations of a " NEW and PERFECT YOU ". 7. Don’t give up It is human nature to make mistakes. Rather than focusing on the fact that you " fell off the wagon ", try to learn from your mistakes, and resolve to start over again. Keeping a positive attitude will help you to continue to move TOWARD a healthier you.

Britannia thank you,I have been thinking of at least start doing something as I have put on lots of weight but could not do anything but wanted to do something - a total mess. Now I am motivated enough that I do something, share, read what others are doing. So the show has taken off ,hope it will bring some positive results too.Slowly as I get into the rhythm shall dare to take up leaps which I will be able to maintain. I wish the Health program does not end up in 90 days,it extends. At least for me it's a great motivational factor.
